Greater Noida (GN), popularly known as planned township,  is located in the Gautam Budh Nagar district of the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). It is under the purview of the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. Greater Noida is a fast growing region, on a trajectory to be one of the largest industrial and education hubs of India. Greater Noida is the first industrial township in Asia, which comes within the NCR region and located outskirts to Noida. This township developed adjacent to Noida to cater to the entry of phenomenal population into this region.

Key features:

  • Connectivity:- The city is strategically located at a distance of 25 kms from New New Delhi to which it is connected by a DND Flyover and a newly developed 6-lane Expressway. Construction of Taj Expressway is underway to connect Greater Noida to Agra and onwards to Bombay. The city is linked to Kolkata by GT Road and to provide access to NH-24 from Greater Noida, a 60 m wide road from industrial sector Ecotech- III to NH-24 is under construction.
  • Amenities:-
    • The city is connected to National Telecom Network on optical fibre cable and digital microwave system.
    • In addition to the ground water, 85 cubic cms of Ganga water is proposed to be provided in Greater Noida.
    • The city also has well designed 100 percent for Sewerage and Drainage Network.
    • The city also has Stellar Gymkhana, Heritage club, Sports complex, Amusement Park (232 acres) and various recreational Centers.
    • The Power Distribution in Greater Noida is being managed by Private Sector
  • Healthcare:- The Greater Noida Authority has designated land for construction of a number of hospitals, nursing homes, polyclinics and specialized cardiac-care hospitals. Allotments have also been made for 10 hospitals, which includes a Cancer hospital and 24 Nursing Homes.
  • Education: The Greater Noida Authority has earmarked 1400 acres for the Knowledge Park. Allotments have already been made to 150 institutions. These institutions include Schools, Management Institutes, Vocational Training Institutes, and Institutes for the Handicapped, Maritime Institutes etc.
  • Social Infrastructure: Greater Noida City has been developed on the theme of “City of Flowers and Fountains”. The master plan has earmarked 30% of the land for development of greenery in the area.
  • Industry: Greater Noida is home to numerous companies which includes Alstom, BPCL R&D centre, Asian Paints, Honda Siel Cars India, New Holland Tractors, NTPC Dadri, Yamaha Motors, Minda Corporation Limited  and many more.

New Initiatives:-

Greater Noida Authority has take the following appreciable new initiatives:-

  • Exposition Mart:- This will be India’s first state-of-the-art Exposition Mart for Cottage and Handicraft sector at Greater Noida, set up by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India for the promotion of the exports of handicrafts from India for the cottage sector i.e. handicrafts, handlooms, carpet and jute etc.
  • Taj Expressway:- Taj Expressway is an extension of this 6 lane Expressway from Noida to Greater Noida upto Agra. The concept of the Taj Expressway, conceived, with the idea of cutting hours on travel time proposes a 160 Km. Expressway between Greater Noida and Agra.
  • Taj International Airport:- The Taj International Airport will be directly connected to the Taj Expressway, which has access for New New Delhi via DND Flyway and Greater Noida Expressway.
  • Night Safari:- GNIDA is planning to develop a Night Safari in the city in order to create awareness about environment & ecology ,to provide a source for recreation to residents and to spur tourism in Greater Noida .It is being developed on the lines of open Zoological gardens already established in China and Singapore.
